
Proof of Concept (POC) with Motion Amplification® technology
VIMS has been conducting on-site Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstrations utilizing Motion Amplification® (MA) technology, powered by RDI Technologies.
This initiative provides an ideal framework to evaluate non-contact vibration analysis. The high demand for our PoC services reflects the technology’s ability to deliver immediate insights into structural and mechanical dynamics when the technology is correctly deployed within a diagnostic program.
Scope of Delivery
The standard PoC itinerary is structured as follows:
- Pre-visit briefing: A preliminary presentation to outline the fundamental principles of Motion Amplification.
- 08:30 – Site Arrival & Technical Introduction: In-depth briefing on MA hardware and software integration held in a dedicated conference setting.
- 9:30 – On-site Data Acquisition: Deployment of the MA system to capture high-definition vibration data on pre-selected assets.
- Asset Selection: We recommend inspecting 3–4 distinct applications, including rotating machinery, supporting structures, piping systems, or low-speed equipment.
- Technical Constraints: Optimal results are achieved on assets exhibiting vibration severity exceeding 4 mm/s RMS (to visualize motion) or characterized by high-amplitude, low-frequency displacements. Static or low-energy assets may yield insufficient signal-to-noise ratios for effective amplification.
- 13:00 – Post-Processing & Signal Analysis: Synthesis of raw data and generation of amplified MP4 videos.
- 14:00 – Technical Review Session: Presentation of recorded footage to key stakeholders, including reliability engineers, CM specialists, and maintenance management.
Objective and Deliverables
The PoC process demonstrates the practical integration of Motion Amplification® into your predictive maintenance workflow. This approach validates system accuracy and software usability. Our application engineer will deliver a detailed analysis of motion patterns, identifying the structural and operational condition of the inspected equipment.
